There have been many bizarre dressing room stories floating around but this one surely takes the cake. There is a ban on biscuits being served in the Sri Lankan dressing room. The bizarre fact was confirmed by Sri Lanka’s team manager Asanka Gurusinha ahead of the ODI series against India. Gurusinha rubbished rumours of a fight breaking out in the Sri Lankan dressing room where players broke crockery in protest of the biscuit ban.
Gurusinha told observerbd.com, “Our physio and trainer are in charge of food at game and they have banned biscuits in the changing room. The other day there were biscuits in the changing room and I informed the catering staff to take it out as our trainer did not want the players to eat in the changing room”.
“He revealed that the players were rather amused by the rumours about the protest in the dressing room. “There was absolutely no argument with any players or support staffs on this issue. In fact, the players were even not aware that the biscuits were kept in the changing room. When the players heard this rumour, they even called me and told me not to worry and they all know that the news was not true and that they are all behind me,” Gurusinha claimed.
Gurusinha also cleared the air over him resigning or being sacked by Sri Lanka Cricket, ““All the rumour regarding I have resigned is not true,” he concluded.
Earlier Sri Lankan sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekara asked for a report following the country’s humiliating defeat to India in the Tests. Sri Lankan team is now under pressure to perform well in the ODI series, though may prove to be a surprise package for India as they were the only team to beat the defending Champions in ICC Champions Trophy 2017 group stage.
