Bullseye! Apurvi Chandela Breaks World Record On Her Way To Gold Medal In ISSF World Cup

Apurvi Chandela wins it in style, with a world record!

Apurvi Chandela gets the ball rolling in ISSF World Cup by winning a gold medal in Women’s 10m Air Rifle today at Dr Karni Shooting Range, Delhi. Not only did Apurvi bag her first World Championship medal, but also created a world record with a total of 252.9 points in the event.

India’s chances in Tokyo Olympics 2020 look even brighter with the 26-year-old clinching the gold medal. However, the shooter from Jaipur had already qualified for the upcoming Olympics by finishing in the top four of ISSF World Cup in September, 2018.

Apurvi dominated the proceedings in ISSF World Cup 2019 with a final score of 1.1 points, ahead of China’s silver medallist, Zhao Ruozhu, who came eighth in the final with 251.8 points.

The Arjuna Awardee’s previous accolades include a silver medal in World Championships (2018 Changwon), a gold medal (2014) and a bronze medal (2018) in Commonwealth Games and another bronze medal in Asian Games Jakarta 2018 (mixed team).
