Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara rises to the No.2 spot in the latest ICC Test batting rankings. Pujara is now just behind Australian skipper Steven Smith who scored a century in the first Test of the Ashes 2017-18 at the Gabba. Virat Kohli maintained his spot in the rankings after scoring his 5th Test double century. Kohli is breathing down Kane Williamson’s neck with a difference of just 3 rating points between them. England skipper Joe Root slipped a point as well moving to the third position. KL Rahul got out for 7 in the Nagpur Test and that resulted in him slipping a position. He is now ranked 9th instead of 8th, just behind Azhar Ali.
In the bowling rankings, Ravichandran Ashwin is still ranked at No.4 position despite taking 8 wickets in Nagpur Test and becoming the fastest to 300 Test wickets. Ashwin is just behind South African speedster Kagiso Rabada. Ravindra Jadeja gained a few rating points after taking 5 wickets in the Nagpur Test. He is ranked 2nd behind James Anderson who took just 2 wickets in the Gabba Test.
Jadeja and Ashwin also maintained their spots in the all-rounder rankings. They are placed at 2nd and 3rd positions respectively on the list led by Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.
Whereas Niroshan Dickwella did not get benefited from the lowly scores of 24 and 4 in the Nagpur Test. He slipped 5 slots, now placed 42nd in the rankings.
