Ashish Nehra had the perfect farewell on November 1. He got to play in front of his home crowd, also got to bowl the last over and then he was lifted like a champion by his teammates. It was a historic match for India as India beat New Zealand for the very first time in the T20I history. Virat Kohli’s Team India beat the Blackcaps by 53 runs. But the spotlight was on Ashish Nehra even before the first ball had been bowled. It was an end to an 18-year-old career that saw the coveted World Cup victory in 2011 as well. Ashish Nehra has played under numerous captains ranging from Sourav Ganguly to Virat Kohli. He may not have been the best pacer of his times but he has made priceless contributions at different points in Indian cricket.
Nehra has featured in 120 matches and picked up 157 wickets. As a bowler, he was renowned for his accuracy, pace and subtle variations in his deliveries. Nehra had the ability to move the ball off the wicket and a devastating late in-swinger that made him a lethal bowler.
