13 Dots & A ‘Wicket-Maiden Over’: Ishant Sharma Has Finally Bowled Trolls Over

Delhi Capitals mentor Ricky Ponting will be very happy now seeing Ishant Sharma do to batsmen what he did to him in Australia

In the age of keyboard warriors, Ishant Sharma has had it rough thanks to netizens trolling him for his bowling in the T20 format. The tall lanky fast bowler just earned immunity from trolls with a wicket-maiden first over for Delhi Capitals (DC) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) yesterday.

Ishant has been struggling in IPL cricket since 2014. He has been getting matches in single digits and his economy rate has been over 9 runs per over. It is considered pretty ordinary for a bowler, especially after the reputation he created for himself during India’s tour of Australia in 2008.

Last edition of IPL, his stocks went so low that he went unsold in the auction. The veteran bowler has worked hard and made his way to India’s Test side, and eventually converting his form into T20 cricket as well (with serious pace).

The first delivery bowled by the Delhi bowler reminded cricket fans of his young days when he brought the ball back to the batsman with sharp swing. It was too unfortunate for the English IPL debutant Joe Denly who was cleaned up by the beauty of a first delivery.

Wow! First ball wicket for Ishant Sharma. What a start for Delhi Capitals against Kolkata Knight Riders. #KKRvDC #IPL2019 pic.twitter.com/lofdDSUknD

The next five balls were right on the money making new batsman Robin Uthappa’s stay at the crease uneasy. All Uthappa could defend or get beaten by the variations of the 30-year-old.

Twitter was impressed by Ishant’s magical first over.

What a wicket maiden over by #ishantsharma !

Officially he can no more be trolled !

Good and bad news both ! #DCvKKR #KKRvDC #IPL2019

Turning back the clock

Ishant Sharma’s first over reminded of his initial days in international cricket. Bringing the ball back in and odd one straightening from the same spot!
Absolute Jaffer !!#IPL2019 #DCvKKR

Last but not the least, dot balls

14 dot balls in 4 overs, brilliant spell by Ishant Sharma.

He bowled well throughout the innings giving just 21 runs of his quota of 4 overs at a reasonably good economy rate of 5.25. With World Cup 2019 squad selection just a couple of days way, Ishant must have caught attention of selectors in reckoning of India’s fourth seamer.
