AB de Villiers once again played on full throttle in the T20 format. In a Ram Slam T20 Challenge match between Lions and Titans, De Villiers provided the crowd with perfect entertainment in a rain-curtailed match at Centurion, Gauteng on November 12. Mr ‘360 degrees’ scored 50 runs off just 19 balls. His innings featured 3 fours and 5 ginormous sixes. His heroics helped Titans race towards the target and chased it down without any tussle.
De Villiers came in to bat when Titans had lost two wickets at the score of 55 in the 7th over while chasing a target of 141 as per Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method. De Villiers stitched a partnership of 95 runs with Albie Morkel for the second wicket. The 95-run partnership came in just 31 balls.
Morkel too decimated the Lions bowling attack by scoring 41 runs from 16 balls. The left-handed batsman’s innings featured a single four and 5 sixes. He scored at a strike rate of 256.25 while De Villiers scored at a strike rate of 263.15.
De Villiers hit five sixes which included a mammoth six that he hammered off Bjorn Fortuin’s delivery which eventually hit the scoreboard in the stadium. He played the shot by going back to the crease and pulled the short ball, launching it over the midwicket.

The bowling lineup of Lions did not consist of inexperienced bowlers. The opposition boasted of international bowlers like Kagiso Rabada, Beuran Hendricks, Dwaine Pretorious and Aaron Phangiso. Still, the duo managed to race towards the target. De Villiers even reached his fifty off the last ball of the over, hitting Rabada’s short ball over deep fine leg for a boundary.
