Records are meant to be broken. But, this record by Mohit Ahlawat will set to stay in record books for a longer period of time. Till now, scoring a triple hundred in the test cricket format was considered a unique feat but this Indian batsman had left the entire cricket fraternity awestruck.
Mohit’s name entered into the cricket archives after a 21-year-old batsman scored a marvelous 300 runs in a friendly T20 game played in Delhi. Mohit Ahlawat was the man who smashed a mountain of 300 runs in just 72 balls, including 39 sixes and 14 fours.
The game was between Maavi XI against Friend’s XI which was organised at Delhi’s Lalita Park. Mohit opened the innings and he didn’t show mercy to the bowlers at all. After the completion of 18 overs, Mohit was on the crease at an individual score of 250 runs. He didn’t just stop there itself but he reached the milestone of 300 runs in a T20 inning like a boss.
In the 19th over, 16 runs came off his bat and 34 in the 20th to lead his side to a total of 416. Mohit hit 5 consecutive sixes in the last 5 five balls of the over and nearly equaled the famous record of six sixes of Yuvraj Singh.
After this splendid innings, Mohit will definitely be remembered with likes of Chris Gayle who smashed a spectacular knock of 175 runs in the sixth season of IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013.
