Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi’s tweet on Kashmir issue urging United Nations’ (UN) intervention received a good amount of backlash from cricketers. After Gautam Gambhir’s hard-hitting tweet, others from the cricket fraternity including Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Kaif, Kapil Dev and Suresh Raina reacted to Afridi’s statement as well. Despite the adverse response, Afridi has decided to stand by his statement and even went on to say that he will never play in Indian Premier League (IPL), even if they asked him to.
According to PakPassion.net editor who also writes for Sky Cricket, FirstPost Sports and The Cricket Paper, here’s how Afridi responded to the comments from Indian cricketers —
Shahid Afridi “if I had not been a cricketer, I would have joined the army”
— Saj Sadiq (@Saj_PakPassion) April 4, 2018
Shahid Afridi “I’m not worried about the response to my tweet from some. I believe I spoke the truth and I have the right to speak the truth”
— Saj Sadiq (@Saj_PakPassion) April 4, 2018
Shahid Afridi “I am a soldier of my country. My country is my honour and Pakistan is everything for me”
— Saj Sadiq (@Saj_PakPassion) April 4, 2018
Afridi’s self-trolling game seems to be on point —
Shahid Afridi “Even if they call me, I won’t go to the IPL. My PSL is the biggest and there will be a time that it leaves the IPL behind. I am enjoying the PSL, I don’t have any need for the IPL. I’m not interested in it and never was” #Cricket

Twitterati did not refrain from roasting Afridi as the 38-year-old insisted that Pakistan Super League (PSL) will get better than Indian Premier League (IPL) in future —
Now they will be jobless for next two months because of IPL ; as next two months are exclusively alloted to IPL.
One more thing virat kohli’s contract in IPL $25 million whole budget of psl $20 millions— Niraj kushwaha (@imNirajkushwaha) April 4, 2018
Well in that case too Ipl has the quality. I remember PSL franchises being upset over players not being available or not giving 100% bcoz of IPL.

Enough said!
@SAfridiOfficial If u think psl is bigger than ipl then u r a frog in a well!

Afridi, however, did play in the inaugural IPL season along with other Pakistani players.

Afridi played for Karachi Kings in PSL 2018 who reached the second eliminator but could not qualify for the final. The all-rounder could only score 47 runs from 6 innings in PSL 2018 but played impressively with the ball, taking 12 wickets. However, it is high time that Afridi realises that he is not IPL material.
