Virat Kohli-led Indian cricket team is all set to take on Australia in the first ODI of the 5-match bilateral series on September 17 in Chennai. Star opener Shikhar Dhawan will not be a part of the team for the first 3 ODIs as he has been released by the BCCI to attend his wife Ayesha, who has not been keeping well. In Dhawan’s absence, it’s a good opportunity for Ajinkya Rahane to open with Rohit Sharma.
Rahane’s form has been inconsistent in the recent times. In the recently concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka, Rahane was benched in the first four matches. Shikhar Dhawan’s absence made his place in the team in the final match but he could score only 5 runs and returned pavilion early. However, ahead of the first ODI against Australia, he was spotted at Chennai’s Chidambaram stadium sweating out during the net session.

Meanwhile, he also opened his cricket kit on camera of BCCI.tv and explained what he usually carries in that trunk.
How does #TeamIndia batsman @ajinkyarahane88 prepare his kit bag ahead of a series? Find out – https://t.co/O9oeOdmE9B – by @Moulinparikh pic.twitter.com/JJ4cWVC3aZ

He carries all the essential equipment in his kit which he needs while batting. He usually carries 4 bats, a few pair of gloves, leg pads and all other types of padding which he uses while playing. He also keeps few bottles of sunscreen lotions which he needs while touring to humid regions like Mumbai and Chennai.
Rahane believes that a batsman should always be prepared for everything and his preparations should also include managing the kit bag. More the kit bag is managed, more is the ease to find the things quickly.
Well, it seems that Rahane is ready to face the Aussies in Chennai. Earlier on September 15, Team India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma attended a press conference where he said,”We have got a few guys who can replace Dhawan. Ajinkya is one of them. He had a great series in the West Indies where he was the man of the series. We have got a very good bench strength.”
