England’s star wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow suffered an injury while facing Arjun Tendulkar, son of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, during the practice net session ahead of their Test series against South Africa starting July 6 at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. The 27-year-old Jonny Bairstow was pinned on the foot by a yorker from 17-year-old Arjun Tendulkar. The youngster is a left-arm seamer. Following this injury, Jonny Bairstow might miss the Test match against the Proteas.

“The 27-year-old was pinned on the foot by a yorker from the teenage son of Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar. Bairstow hobbled out of the nets after facing only one delivery from the 17-year-old Arjun Tendulkar,” English daily Daily Mail reported.

“Bairstow’s left foot was placed briefly in a compression unit to ease the pain during the session at Lord’s on Wednesday morning,” Daily Mail added.

Jonny Bairstow has so far played 38 Test matches and scored over 2,400 runs with 167 not out is his top score. In One Day Internationals, Bairstow has so far scored 690 runs after playing 27 matches. In the year 2016, Bairstow set a new record for the most dismissals (70) by a wicket keeper in a calendar year.

In the same year, he also set a record of scoring most runs in test matches by a wicketkeeper in a single year.
