Arjun Tendulkar’s selection in India’s Under-19 squad created ripples as many believed that it was another case of nepotism. But at the end of the day, it’s the performance that counts on the field and not the family name, even if it’s legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s son. Arjun opened the bowling for India against Sri Lanka in the first youth Test of the series.
Arjun got hit for two boundaries, one in each over by R Mishra. However, on the last ball of the second over, Arjun bowled an inswinger to Mishra. The left-handed batsman could not get bat on the ball and got trapped in front of the wicket.
Here’s the video of his maiden wicket:
The 18-year-old got his first wicket, a decent start to his spell in maiden youth Test. However, it will be too soon to judge whether he stands out of the lot or not. Mohit Jangra picked up a wicket too. Left-arm spinner turned out to be a little expensive relatively but picked up two wickets.
Arjun will be under pressure throughout the series because of the expectations from him. The all-rounder bowled two maidens before the second session.
