Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka in the ongoing Nidahas tri-series to secure their place in the final against India. While the match was going well, it took an ugly turn when the winning team’s skipper Shakib Al Hasan had a heated conversation with match officials. He was furious over the umpires’ decision of not giving him a no-ball when he was at the dugout near the boundary line.
Later, the umpires came out to diffuse the tension, resumed the game as if everything was normal and Mahmudullah Riyad got the required runs to win the game with a six. Later Shakib Al Hasan confessed that his team got carried away with their emotions. Even though the match did continue normally, the pictures of the Bangladesh team’s dressing room that surfaced on social media tell a different tale.

According to several media reports, Shakib and his team allegedly broke the glass of their dressing room after the debacle occurred during the game. The ground staff at the R Premadasa Stadium have been asked to cross-check the CCTV footages to find out who was behind the vandalism. The players held responsible will be facing match referee Chris Broad’s wrath. The footage is expected to be submitted by March 17.

It has also been reported that it was a Bangladesh player who broke the glass while celebrating the team’s win over Sri Lanka. While we still don’t know who was behind this, such ugly altercations and unnecessary fights do nothing but raise questions on the team’s sportsman-spirit.
