Big blow for India, Mohammed Shami to miss ODIs against England

India’s pace spearhead Mohammed Shami will miss the ODIs as well after missing the last two Test matches against England due to an aggravated knee injury. This could be a problem for the Indian team as Shami has been a consistent performer.

Shami will miss the three ODIs to be played against England starting January 15 next year. He had sustained an injury in the right knee in the third Test against England and was ruled out of the remaining two Tests. He had made a comeback after being out of action for a year due to a knee injury in the left leg sustained during World Cup 2015. Pacer Ishant Sharma can replace Shami in the team.

India will be playing the ODIs without many regular players. Opener Rohit Sharma is already put with a thigh injury, Ajinkya Rahane had also sustained an injury during the Test series. Both the stars will have to prove his fitness before the match. All-rounder Hardik Pandya is also out with a shoulder injury.

There are a number of players who can replace the players. Owing to the performance in Test matches, KL Rahul and Karun Nair can get places in the team. Shikhar Dhawan will most likely make a comeback.
