Ben Stokes once again proved why he is considered one of the best players in the world cricket currently. As England beat Australia by 40 runs (DLS method). They were well ahead of the DLS par score, thanks to Ben Stokes’ century and Eoin Morgan’s knock of 87 before Adam Zampa ran him out owing to a terrible mix-up. Rain once again played spoilsport but by then England had already strengthened their position despite being reduced to 3 for 35 early on in the innings.

England beating Australia would have caused celebrations in Bangladesh’s camp as they are through to the semi-finals of the tournament for the first time in the history of the tournament.

Australian bowlers lost the plot after taking three quick wickets of Jason Roy, Alex Hales and Joe Root. Morgan-Stokes put on a partnership of 159 for the fourth wicket and rescued their side and getting them into a commanding position.

Australian batting lineup suffered a batting collapse that stopped them from posting a gigantic total on the scoreboard. After a good start despite David Warner’s wicket, Australia could not capitalise on it. Finch and Smith scored fifties but could not convert them into big scores.

Mark Wood and Adil Rashid wrecked Australian batting lineup as they took 4 wickets each to enable a batting collapse. Travis Head was running out of partners but hold fort on his own as he remained unbeaten for 71 in the end.
