With the summer of England finally here, ICC Champions Trophy kicks-off from the 1st of June, but the warm-up games are already underway. India have already played one warm-up game in which they emerged victorious in the rain-curtailed game via Duckworth-Lewis method. More importantly, Virat Kohli, captain of the men in blue, who was not in the best of form during the recently concluded Indian Premier League got some runs under his belt before the tournament actually begins. India chasing 189, Virat Kohli remained 52 not out, he was also hitting the ball from the middle of the bat, something that devoid him all Indian summer. That is the biggest takeaway from that encounter. Apart from Jadeja, Ashwin getting a feel of the pitch and Shikhar Dhawan continued his purple patch from the IPL into England. All these factors make India’s chances of trophy defense even stronger.
Today is India’s second warm-up game before they hit the championship running. The match between the two sub continental sides will be played at the Oval, a ground which has been good for India in the past. Bangladesh would be no push-overs and Indian and Kohli will surely know that without a doubt. India would be hoping to tighten its screws in this game as this is their last chance before the real thing. Kedar Jadhav would be hoping he gets a look in, as he could play a pivotal role in the middle-overs for India. Rohit Sharma would also look to get a look in ahead of the Pakistan clash that is slated to take place on the 4th of June.
