Gautam Gambhir, who has always been lauded as one of the most patriotic cricketers, on June 18 advised a Kashmiri separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to go to Pakistan to celebrate their victory in the ICC Champions Trophy. Gautam Gambhir’s this advice came after Mirwaiz Farooq took to his Twitter handle to share his excitement after Sarfaraz Ahmed-led Pakistan side thrashed Indian team by 180 runs to lift their maiden Champions Trophy title at the Oval in London.
Mirwaiz Farooq tweeted: “Fireworks all around, feels like an early Eid here. Better team took the day. Congratulations team #Pakistan.”
Irked by Mirwaiz Farooq’s this tweet, Gautam Gambhir replied him and tweeted: “A suggestion @MirwaizKashmir why don’t u cross the border? U will get better fireworks (Chinese?), Eid celebs there.I can help u wid packing.”

Pakistan on June 18 claimed their third ICC tournament, having earlier won the 50-over World Cup in 1992 and the World Twenty20 in 2009.
Earlier, Put in to bat by Virat Kohli, Pakistan rode on a century by opener Fakhar Zaman to post a massive total of 338/4 in the allotted 50 overs. For India, pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya and spinner Kedar Jadhav took one wicket each.
In reply, India were all out for 158 runs in 30.3 overs. For Pakistan, pacers Mohammad Amir and Hasan Ali bagged three wickets each.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya was the highest scorer among the Indians with 76 runs from 43 balls.
After the victory, Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed hailed his side’s character and belief. “After the India (group) match I said to my boys, the tournament is not finished yet. I told them trust their talent. We played very well and now we have won the final,” Sarfraz said.
