The cricket fans from both India and Pakistan are eagerly waiting for the India vs Pakistan game on June 4 in the eighth edition of the ICC Champions Trophy. But ahead of this much-awaited face-off, Indian batsman Kedar Jadhav and Pakistan’s bowling all-rounder Haris Sohail spoke about what they feel about the game.
Both the teams are already present in England and have played their respective practice games. Meanwhile, speaking to the news agency ANI, Jadhav stated that Team India need to treat the forthcoming game as any other normal match.
He said,”As professional cricketers, we don’t involve our emotions. We need to play every game with the same amount of intensity. It’s all about the crowd that creates this kind of environment. It’s good to have people coming to see the match when it is an India-Pakistan game. But for us cricketers, it is always about treating every game with the same kind of intensity and treat every opponent with the same amount of respect.”
On the other hand, Pakistan’s Haris Sohail also has the same thought ahead of the game. After having played all their practice games against Bangladesh and Australia, Sohail spoke to PTI news agency and said,”We have had good preparation, we have had a good couple of days. It is a huge game against India, a really big game. But it is just a game. We are preparing ourselves for all of the hard matches.”
Unlike ICC world cups, Pakistan holds a 2-1 lead over their fierce rivals and neighbours in the Champions Trophy, it is India who has won 10 out of the 11 contests at the World Cup and World T20 tournaments between the two sides.
However, India are the defending champions of this prestigious title and head into the marquee event as favourites after a hugely successful home season with 10 Test wins.
