Amidst the buzz across India-Pakistan ahead of their ICC Champions Trophy 2017 clash and the recent reported tussle between Indian skipper Virat Kohli and head coach Anil Kumble, Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur made a big statement in the pre-match conference. On being asked whether there has been any disagreement with him and Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed similar to what has been going on between Kohli-Kumble. Arthur was amused by the question and expressed his views on the captain-coach relationship.
Arthur laughed it off on the rift going on between Kohli and head coach Kumble. He said, “To be honest know, we don’t know what’s going on. That’s India’s problem, to be honest. The World knows that the captain-coach relationship is almost like a marriage. You have got to be on the same page all the time. If you are on the same page, you get correct decisions and you give clarity to the team. That’s it, me and Safy (Sarfraz) find us very much on the same page. As I said I have had the privilege to work with so many good captains in my time and Safy is right up there as I really to enjoy working with him.
He also feels that the Pakistan team can’t wait for tomorrow as they are excited to play India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. On being asked will Junaid Khan play a key role in tomorrow’s game, coach Arthur had a shocking response, “No, to be brutally honest. We’ll make a call on the final combination tomorrow morning.” He went on to clarify that the 12-member team for tomorrow despite Junaid’s record against Kohli-
