England are hosting Bangladesh in the opener of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Earlier, England won the toss and opted to field considering there could be rain later on. Bangladesh, who got the better of them in 2015 World Cup came out roaring, Tamim Iqbal scored a fantastic century to set up a winning total for themselves, they scored 305. Iqbal scored 128, which is the highest score by a Bangladeshi batsman at an ICC event. Do not forget the innings of Mushfiqur Rahim, who too scored a brilliant 79 off 72 balls providing the much-needed finishing kick. Liam Plunkett was the pick of the English bowlers bagging four wickets, the others chipped in with a wicket each.
When England started their chase, they were pegged back early. They lost the wicket of the aggressive Jason Roy, who was trying to paddle a Mortaza over short fine leg, the only fielder there was Mustafizur Rahman, Roy had to just clear him but he could not as Rahman leaped in the air, extended his arms to catch the ball. One, it is a big wicket in the context of the game, as Roy could take the game away in no time, so getting him early in the piece was the key.
As we speak, England have got their chase back on track, they are 110 for the loss of that solitary wicket after 20 overs. Mustafizur will also be expected to bowl well and take wickets and with the kind of form he is in it surely is not beyond him.
