India vs Pakistan, ICC Champions Trophy 2017: The change Rohit Sharma made to counter Mohammad Aamir

India v Pakistan, ICC Champions Trophy 2017: Just two days before the high-octane clash, Rohit started working with batting coach Sanjay Bangar

Rohit Sharma scored a match-winning 91 off 119 balls to set up a comprehensive Indian win. He along with Shikhar Dhawan got India off to a solid start with a partnership off 116, before losing its first wicket in the form of Shikhar Dhawan. But Rohit Sharma, who did not play the warm-up games and was not in the best of forms in the recently concluded Indian Premier League, so then to score a valient 91 in an high-octane game shows this Maharashtrian has immense talent. Another Mumbaikar who opened the batting for India and has a great record against Pakistan was also present, Sachin Tendulkar. Both Rohit and Sachin opened the batting for India.

KL Rahul’s injury and Sharma’s pedigree as an opener in the last few years got him the nod from the selectors.

He fine-tuned his touch hitting ball after ball thrown at him from different angles.

So how did he counter Mohammad Aamir?

Rohit Sharma has been slogging it out there in the nets for the past few days and has been putting in the most amount of time in the nets.  He fine-tuned his touch hitting ball after ball thrown at him from different angles. Just two days before the high-octane clash, Rohit started working with batting coach Sanjay Bangar, who gave him a lot of throw-downs. Bangar asked him to stand tall and not fall over. That helped him maintain good balance even when he was leaving balls outside the off stump or the ones that were shaping away. In fact, earlier in the first over of the match the two players from either sides also had a soft banter.
