Watch: Hope people will not break TV sets when India defeats Pakistan, says Virender Sehwag ahead of India-Pakistan clash on June 4

Veteran players Virender Sehwag and Shoaib Akhtar were seen getting indulged in a war of words in a television debate as both the players backed their respective teams for the power-packed face-off

Ahead of the most awaited clash of the Champions Trophy 2017 between India and Pakistan on June 4, the excitement is clearly visible and several verbal spats have already begun among the current and former cricketers from both the countries on and off the field. Earlier, Pakistan players like Junaid Khan and Sarfaraz Ahmed had claimed their team’s potential to win their first game against India on June 4, on the other hand, recently in a television debate, veteran players Virender Sehwag and Shoaib Akhtar were seen getting indulged in a war of words as both the players backed their respective teams for the power-packed face-off.

Both Sehwag and Akhtar were invited to a debate on a leading Indian news channel where they speculated the scenario of the game going to be held on this Sunday. Sharing his views, former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar said,”I believe our country will and then we would celebrate our victory. Moreover, we would be celebrating the occasion of winning the Champions Trophy.”

To this Virendra Sehwag, who is known worldwide for his witty replies, said,”We Indians will definitely celebrate if we beat Pakistan and I hope if this time Pakistan loses to India, people out there in Pakistan shouldn’t break their TV sets. Better they should buy radio as it’s much cheaper than a TV set to break.”

On speaking about the necessity of playing an indo-Pak bilateral series, Shoaib said,”There should be two home series played every year between both the nations. This will help BCCI then PCB. But it;s not happening because BCCI is bounded to so.”

Once again Sehwag’s reply made Akhtar go out of words. Sehwag said,”India doesn’t need to play any series with Pakistan because BCCI is already the richest board in the world. It’s Pakistan who requires this series to happen so that PCB could earn some money so that they could take care of their players.”

Now the moment came when Shoaib counted on the past face-offs between India and Pakistan. Shoaib claimed that in the past Pakistan has beaten India than they did despite going through the poor form in last 10 years. This remark compelled Viru Paaji to give a fitting reply. Sehwag said,”Itne to tarbooz mein beej nahin hotey India-Pakistan matches me Pakistan ko problem hoti chain (Pakistan faces more problems in an Indo-Pak clash more than the number of seeds present in a Watermelon). Be it 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2011, 2015, we have beaten Pakistan in all the 50-over World Cup face-offs. Ye kalyug nahi ‘Kohli Yug’ hai.”

The India-Pakistan matches have always been the most entertaining and full of excitement ever. And now, both the countries are waiting for June 4 to come and no Sunday could be better that the forthcoming when Virat Kohli & Co. will take on their arch rivals.
