When it comes to trolling themselves Pakistan players have topped the list. But, this time around they even outdid themselves. It was Junaid Khan who wanted to review for leg before wicket (lbw) against Kagiso Rabada. Junaid bowled a yorker which was dug out by Rabada. He did not just get an edge off that ball but played it with a straight bat and also took a single off that ball towards point region. Junaid had a talk with Pakistan skipper almost immediately and opted for DRS.
As soon as the on-field Umpire gave the signal for DRS, Rabada was laughing with his teammate David Miller as they found the decision to take DRS quite amusing. The replay showed that the ball had hit the middle of the bat with Rabada’s legs clear off the ball by a considerable distance. The incident happened on the last ball of the 43rd over.
It happens when players want to dominate the opposition after a good start even if they get the slightest of hints of reversing the Umpire’s decision. But, it was quite clear to the naked eye in realtime that the ball had hit the bat and not Rabada’s pads. Soon enough Pakistan players despite their splendid bowling performance became a butt of jokes.
However, it was not Pakistan skipper Sarfraz’s mistake as he was standing behind the wickets but Junaid clearly did not have his head in the right place requesting DRS from the Umpire. He seemed quite confident while opting for DRS while having a discussion with his skipper. It seems like Junaid had a brain fade moment on the field.
