CSK, MI Fans Both Want The King Of Comebacks, Yuvraj Singh, In Their Team This IPL

Can we expect a bidding war for Yuvraj Singh between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians

Yuvraj Singh’s stocks might have somewhat dropped in recent times, but he’s still the most expensive player in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions. After Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) released Yuvraj after IPL 10, he returned to Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for a base price of Rs 2 crore. But KXIP has released the local crowd favourite as well, after a mediocre performance in previous season. Out of eight franchises, Yuvraj has already played for four but fans of two popular franchises are vociferously requesting the management to bid for the 37-year-old in the upcoming auction on December 18.

For the first time in IPL, Yuvraj has decreased his base price to Rs 1 crore. Irrespective of his form, Yuvraj is a dangerous player when he gets going. With his base price slashed by 50 per cent, franchises might look to fit him in their middle order. Apart from his batting exploits, he can also be a valuable addition as a mentor for the youngsters.

With franchise upping their social media game ahead of the auction and engaging their fans, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) asked fans on Twitter the name of the players they should bid for and here’s what happened:

Keeping in mind the potential of the flamboyant left-handed batsman, he can be on radar of few franchises. In previous auction, CSK were trolled for picking veterans in the team instead of youngsters but managed to lift the trophy on comeback. They banked on the experience of players like Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu and others to produce the results, they might just invest in Yuvraj for at least one season.

On the other hand, MI need stability in their middle order. A batsman around whom others can bat. The new role may as well bring Yuvraj back in form. The three-time IPL winners could not make it into the qualifiers last time around and may bank upon a veteran Indian batsman in the side and then bring in overseas bowlers.

The 2011 World Cup hero is known for his comebacks. And we’re pretty sure that with this IPL, he will be hoping he finds a franchise he can stick in for the time being.
