David Miller hits the fastest century in T20I in second T20I against Bangladesh — Watch Video

David Miller toyed with Bangladesh bowlers in the second T20I and went on to score the fastest century in T20Is from 35 balls

David Miller was due for a big innings. Miller made the opportunity count when South Africa were three wickets down in the second T20I against Bangladesh. Miller went on to score the fastest century in T20Is in just 35 balls. In blistering knock, Miller struck 7 fours and 9 sixes. He scored at a whopping strike rate of 280.66 in his record-breaking innings. His impact was such in the innings that he eclipsed Hashim Amla’s innings of 85 fruns from 51 balls. Miller broke South African batsman Richard Levi’s record of fastest T20I century from 45 balls against New Zealand in 2012.

South Africa scored a mammoth target of 224 for 4 in 20 overs. This is Miller’s maiden T20I century. He has pulled off a similar effort in Indian Premier League (IPL) as well playing for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Mohali in 2013. Nicknamed as ‘Killer-Miller’, he scored his IPL century in just 38 balls. Though it is to be noted that he scored 101 on both occasions and remained unbeaten.

Here’s how Twitterati reacted to Miller’s ton –

Meanwhile Killer Miller came into bat with only 10 overs remaining and scores a century of only 35 balls. Well done @DavidMillerSA12 .

Miller shared a 49-run partnership with Amla for the fourth wicket. Amla struck 11 fours and 1 six in his innings and made up for the first T20I where he got out for 3 runs. Though he increased the runrate in the death overs by a drastic rate. Miller also struck 5 sixes in a row off Mohammad Saifuddin in the 19th over of the innings. He scored 31 runs from an over. He missed out on equaling Yuvraj Singh’s record of six sixes in an over but ended up taking just a single off the last ball of the 19th over.

Saifuddin who had bowled a decent spell till then with 22 runs in 3 overs and picking up three wickets recorded his worst spell in this format. He ended up with bowling figures 53 for 2 in 4 overs. Miller sure made the dropped catch count as Mushfiqur Rahim made a horrible mistake.
