David Warner is one of the agilest fielders in the Ashes squad of Australia. On Day 2 of the first Test in the Ashes 2017-18, Warner showed his fielding skills by taking a catch at the leg slip. Australia were off to a great start on Day 2 as they were skimming through England’s batting lineup quickly. As Jake Ball tried targetting Nathan Lyon by hitting him for three boundaries in an over, skipper Steven Smith brought his pacers back into the attack.
Mitchell Starc fired one short ball after the other at the English batsmen. With an attacking field setting, he bowled a short delivery which was going towards Ball’s leg side, under his shoulder. Ball tried to flick it towards the square of the wicket on the leg side but could not time it well.
He fell right into the trap as Warner was fielding in the leg slip position. Warner dived towards his right and caught the ball behind his body. Wicketkeeper Tim Paine was delighted by the effort and so was Starc. The left-arm pacer went running towards Warner laughing on his way. Paine was surprised by Warner’s effort and so was the home crowd who let out a huge cheer for him.

Ball got dismissed for 14 off 11 balls, scoring 3 boundaries in his short innings. Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins and Starc brought Australia back into the game as they got 6 wickets in the first session and bundled out Australia for 302.
