Delhi cricketers left stranded at Indore airport; Unmukt Chand tweets episode, Indigo responds

An Indigo aircraft from Indore to Delhi carrying Delhi’s Ranji Trophy squad stopped abruptly at the runway at the Devi Ahalya Bai Holkar airport late on Tuesday, January 2. This is not the first time that there have been complaints against the airlines.

On November 5, badminton champion PV Sindhu took to Twitter to allege that an Indigo groundstaff had misbehaved with her. A video of Indigo staff manhandling an elderly passenger at the tarmac in New Delhi also went viral a few months ago.

What happened to Indigo flight 867?

It is learnt that the Indigo flight 867, which was scheduled for 9.20pm on Tuesday, was initially delayed due to a technical snag. Around 10.20pm, the flight was grounded at the runway a few seconds before taking off. The airline admitted that the pilot had to take such a step after facing some engine issues.

Cricketer Unmukt Chand, who was among the stranded passengers, tweeted,

Indigo flt 867 abruptly stopped at runway citing technical issues. Stranded at Indore airport now. Hoping to gt a hotel soon.Frustating for ppl.Me enjoying d arguments.U cnt really do much in such cases.Rather accept it.Be at ease.Dnt resist wt cnt happen. Gratitude evry1 is safe

The airlines tweeted:

After the ordeal, the cricketers finally took an early morning flight to reach Delhi from Indore. This is not the first time Indigo has made headlines for the wrong reasons, but we certainly hope it is the last.
