England create EMBARRASSING record, become 8th quintet to concede more than 100 runs in same innings

Stuart Broad and James Anderson have featured twice on this list

England has bagged an embarrassing record on Day 4 of the 3rd Ashes Test at WACA, Perth. Trailing 0-2 in the ongoing series, England is on the verge of an Ashes loss. England, to their discredit, notched up a record they will not be proud of. The English quintet became the 8th in Test history to concede in excess of 100 runs in the same innings. Interestingly, Stuart Broad and James Anderson have featured twice on this list. It was also the third time that English bowlers achieved the unwanted record.They bowled long spells as the Australian batsmen really played well.

Earlier, Smith (239) got his highest Test score and Marsh (181) also brought up his maiden Test hundred. Cummins and Paine also chipped in with handy 40s to score 662 for 9 before they declared.

Pacer Stuart Broad was the one who bore the brunt of the Aussie attack. In his 35 overs, he gave 142 runs at an economy rate of 4.06 — that is considered expensive in Test cricket. Craig Overton was the other bowler who was taken for a ride as he gave way 110 runs in 24 overs at a rate of 4.58. However, he did manage to pick up two wickets.

The experienced James Anderson also gave 116 runs while scalping 4 wickets. Moeen Ali also went for 120 in his 33 overs. Chris Woakes bowled 41 overs to concede 128 and return with a solitary wicket.

James Anderson: 116 runs in 37.3 overs for 4 wickets.

Stuart Broad: 142 runs in 35 overs for no wickets.

Chris Woakes: 128 runs in 42 overs for 1 wicket.

Overton: 110 runs in 28 overs for 2 wickets.

Moeen Ali: 120 runs in 33 overs for 1 wicket.
