England bowled really well in the second Indian innings as they got the hosts out cheaply at 204 runs. Pacer Stuart Broad got his best career statistics in India as he took 4 wickets. The wickets are not only quantity but quality. He got India’s top batsmen like Cheteshwar Pujara, KL Rahul, Ajinkya Rahane and in-form Ravichandran Ashwin out. Adil Rashid also took 4 wickets to reduce India to a paltry sum. Despite the dismal show with the bat, India still have given a stiff target to England. India have given England a target of 405 runs courtesy the hefty first innings lead.
On day 4, Indian batting collapsed. They lost 7 wickets for 120 runs. Virat Kohli was the leading scorer. He made 81 runs. Ajinkya Rahane got out at 26 runs as he continued his poor run with the bat. India’s tail wagged yet again as Jayant Yadav and Mohammed Shami got India crucial runs. Yadav played some genuine cricket to score 27 runs.
Now it would be for India’s ace spinner R Ashwin to perform and dismiss England to win the Test match. For England, it would be an uphill task to save the Test match.
