Gautam Gambhir’s bashing Brad Hodge will make it clear that he has not quarrel with Virat Kohli as he comes to the rescue of Indian skipper. Hodge made a controversial remark saying that Kohli opted out of the ongoing Dharamsala Test, the decider of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Kohli suffered a shoulder injury on Day 1 of the Ranchi Test and did not take the field for almost two days. He had to opt out of Dharamsala Test.
There was already enough controversy surrounding the India-Australia Test series, but Hodge added fuel to it with his comments before Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 kicks off on April 5. Hodge is currently the mentor for Suresh Raina’s side, Gujrat Lions. Gambhir with his comment took the former Australian player on and standing up for his captain. Let’s take a look at the pure gold reply from the left-handed opener.
Gambhir had a few words of wisdom to impart as he took on Hodge’s comments on Kohli, he told a leading news publishing website, “I feel someone who is playing for the country and captaining India would never want to miss a Test match and would definitely want to play for India more than any other tournament. That has always been the case and knowing Virat, he would have never done that,”
Gambhir did not just stop there and bashed Hodge further for commenting on his Delhi mate, “Look if you jsut want to be in headlines you can say anything you would want to. It’s just about making a headline or trying to get your name in the press, you could make such statements as well. But if you don’t know the person, you don’t know the extent of the injury, you should not be talking about it,” he added.
Gujrat Lions mentor told Australian media that, “You’d hope as a sportsman that he’s seriously injured. Because if you miss one game of Test match cricket and you’re fronting up the next week for RCB [Royal Challengers Bangalore] versus whoever … you’d be pretty dirty if he didn’t front up to a Test match and try and win a valuable series against Australia.”
