From helping the deprived to standing up for Kargil martyr’s daughter Gurmehar Kaur, Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is known for his generosity and standing up for issues of national importance. Gambhir launched his foundation – Gautam Gambhir Foundation (GGF) which aims at feeding the hungry and in August, the 36-year-old launched a campaign named ‘Ek Asha’ which aims at providing food to underprivileged kids.
The two-time World Cup winning opening batsman feels that setting up daily kitchens to feed the poor is as special as winning World Cup or Indian Premier League (IPL).
Recently, on Children’s Day, Gambhir posted a video of himself feeding poor kids as a part of his ‘Ek Asha’ campaign. Apart from the video, the Kolkata Knight Riders skipper also had an emotional message for his followers on Twitter.
Here’s Gambhir’s tweet:
आँखे नम है के इन नन्हें हाथों ने अब तक अपनी तक़दीर ही कोसी है। कोशिश कर रहा हूँ के मैंने थाली में खाना नहीं उम्मीद परोसी है। #ChildrenInNeed pic.twitter.com/O9Tv62kzIR

Gambhir is currently playing in the Ranji Trophy season 2017-18 after stepping down from captaincy of Delhi. The southpaw is playing under newly-appointed captain Ishant Sharma. The Delhi opener made a mark in this season with a gritty knock of 144 against Karnataka in a recently concluded match which ended in a draw.
