It’s July 8th, 2017 and today the former captain of Team India, Sourav Ganguly turns 45. We wish him a very Happy Birthday to the Dada of Indian Cricket Team. The man who changed the face of the Indian cricket and known for his aggressive captaincy is currently the President of Cricket Association of Bengal. However, this man has a long history when it comes to the game of cricket.
He was born in Kolkata in the year 1972 in a businessman’s family. He played his first international game in the year 1992 against West Indies while his first Test was against England in 1996 where he smashed a century in his debut. In the year 2000, when the evil of Match Fixing surmounted the Indian cricket and some of the players came into the limelight, Sourav Ganguly was named as the captain of Team India. He then took over Sachin Tendulkar’s post and then he had a long way to go.
He led India in many successful series victories including the ICC Champions Trophy 2002. In 2003, India reached the World Cup Final but lost to India. He gave chance many young talents including Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan etc. who later turned out to be cricket legends.
