Happy Birthday, Michael Clarke! WATCH his EXOTIC 300 at SCG in 2012

Michael Clarke declared the innings at 329*, to which everyone said that he did not want to eclipse Mark Taylor and Don Bradman's score

Well, it was tough for Michael Clarke to take over from Ricky Ponting, who had been extremely successful in his times. The pressure hence was even bigger on Michael Clarke, lovingly known as ‘Pup’. Out of his many epic knocks, the triple he got against India has to be one of his most fondest memories. It happened in 2012, he scored 329 runs. Well, he declared the innings at 329, to which everyone said that he did not want to eclipse Mark Taylor and Don Bradman’s score. But he said no to the event and that is it as they say.

After the match this is what he said, ”Don’t get me wrong, I’m stoked that I’ve managed to make 300-odd runs in this Test match, but the most important thing for me now is that we win the Test.” Clarke, who has previously said his fine century against South Africa in Cape Town meant nothing when Australia collapsed for 47 in the second innings and lost the Test.

Michael Clarke has been a great legend of the game and a good captain as well. He scored 8643 runs in 115 Tests at a good average of 49.10. In One Day Internationals he played 245 matches and scored 7981. His record speaks volumes of the contribution he has made for the Australian cricket.
