Virat Kohli has been having a great time on the cricket field in this calendar year. Right in the beginning of 2017, he became the captain across all the formats of cricket after Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down from his post after almost 9 years. Since then, India haven’t lost a single bilateral series under his captaincy. He also took the team to the n0.1 position in the ICC test rankings and himself became the no.1 ODI and T20I batsman.
And today, when he is celebrating his 29th birthday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has compiled all his records in a video and shared on their official Twitter handle. Have a look:

Here is the list of Kohli’s list of achievements in the year 2017:
- January 15, 2017, 1st ODI vs England – Kohli became the player with most hundreds in successful chases. Surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 14
- January 22, 2017, 3rd ODI vs England – He became the fastest to reach 1000-run mark as a captain in ODIs
- One-off Test vs Bangladesh – Became the first batsman to score double tons in 4 consecutive series
- June 15, ICC Champions Trophy against Bangladesh – Quickest to reach 8000 runs in ODIs. Kohli took 175 innings to reach this feat and surpassed AB de Villiers who took 182
- 3rd Test vs Sri Lanka, Pallekel: First Indian captain to make a clean sweep in a 3-match Test series away from home
- Only T20I against Sri Lanka – He became the quickest batsman to 15,000 international runs
- He also became the first Indian captain to wrap a series 3-0, 5-0, 1-0
- October 22, 2017, 1st ODI vs New Zealand – He played an inning of 121 runs, highest runs scored by any player in his 200th appearance in ODIs
- October 23, 2017, 3rd ODI vs New Zealand – Kohli scored another century, 113 runs, and became the fastest to reach 9000 ODI runs
- Virat Kohli is also the second cricketer with most number of ODI tons (32) after Sachin Tendulkar (49)
- November 4, 2017, 2nd T20I vs New Zealand: He became the only Indian batsman and 8th overall to go past 7000 runs in Twenty20 cricket
- He also currently the 2nd leading run scorer in T20Is after Brendon McCullum
- He is the only Indian to hit 200+ fours in T20I cricket
