We all have seen spinner Harbhajan Singh and his heroics on the cricket field. His turns, googlies and doosras have annoyed a huge number of batsmen. Who could forget his hat trick against the Australians in 2001 Border-Gavaskar Trophy? He is one of the successful spinners of Team India and after spending 19 years playing for India in different formats of cricket, this Punjabi leggie is all set to make his debut as a singer.
According to several media reports, the veteran Indian spinner will be singing a song to celebrate the contributions of real life heroes who sacrificed their lives for nation’s welfare. He will be teaming up with renowned music composer Mithoon to record this single.
The song will be recorded in Hindi and English combined and will be released in December this year.
As quoted by the leading Indian daily, Hindustan Times, Mithoon said,”It’s actually a thought that Harbhajan shared with me. We have been close friends for a while now and he has always expressed his interest in music. He wanted to do something to celebrate our national heritage and culture. We were always contemplating on working together and were in talks of collaborating on a single since over a year now.”
“This concept cropped up on his birthday and while there many ideas exchanged this particular idea appealed to us the most. I always believe music should address a higher purpose and collaborations of ideas should bring meaning to the fore,” Mithoon added.
Harbhajan made bis debut in 1998 when he was 17-year-old. He played his first Test against Australia at Bengaluru. Since then he has represented India in 103 Test matches and 236 ODI matches where he has taken 417 and 269 wickets respectively. He has also played 28 T20Is so far and has taken 25 wickets an economy of 6.20.
He last donned the blue Indian jersey in 2016 Asia Cup T20 against UAE in at Dhaka.
