Haryana’s woman cricketer raped by priest in Haridwar, main accused still on the run

The victim claimed that she has been a part of the Haryana cricket team. As per her complaint, the accused's name is Vidyanand and hails from Bhilwara, Rajasthan

In a shocking piece of news, a female cricketer from Haryana was allegedly raped by a priest in Haridwar. The victim also approached the Haryana police but she stated that no action was taken from their side. She also claimed that she has been a part of the Haryana cricket team. As per the victim’s complaint, the accused name is Vidyanand and hails from Bhilwara, Rajasthan.

According to the media reports, the victim came to know Vidyanand after she met him through a male acquaintance of her friend. The accused asked her to come to Haridwar. She agreed to it and paid a visit to the holy city in Uttarakhand. As per her complaint, the accused priest promised to marry her and then raped her.

After she realised that she had been cheated and physically abused, she reportedly filed a complaint in the Hisar Sadar police station. Responding to it, the police have booked 4 people till now. Later, the victim went to the DGP of Haryana police, BS Sandhu, and reported that the police have taken no further action on her complaint. In addition, she also accused a police officer of verbally accusing her. Even after booking four people, the police have failed to nab the rapist priest who is still at large.

On the other hand, the Haryana Police have released a statement in which it’s been stated that one person has been arrested till now, however, the main accused is still on a run. As per the reports, Hisar SP Manisha Chaudhary has confirmed the information and said,”The main accused is still out there and we are carrying out raids to arrest him as soon as possible.”
