Sri Lanka beat India by 7 wickets in the 1st ODI at Dharamsala to take a 1-0 lead. Rohit Sharma and Co. were at bay after Thisara Perera won the toss and opted to field first. India was skittled out for 112, with MS Dhoni standing tall to score 65 runs. At a certain point in time, India was 29 for 7, facing the danger of being bundled out for their lowest ever score. Well, that was averted thanks to an MS Dhoni marvel.

The visitors chasing 113 got off to a bad start two quick wickets, but then they chased down the total with ease. Matthews (25) and Niroshan Dickwella (26) was unbeaten at the crease. Apart from a wicket of a Jasprit Bumrah ‘no-ball’, nothing more happened as they won the match.
