Hyderabad Cricket Association rejects Azharuddin’s nomination for President’s post

The ex-caption had visioned to serve his state cricket being at the top post at the HCA but the state board rejected his entry.

The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has rejected the nomination filed by former Indian captain Md. Azharuddin for the post of board’s President.

The ex-caption had visioned to serve his state cricket being at the top post at the HCA but got a disappointment from the state board. On his rejection, Azhar said,”The rejection is very sad. I’m disappointed at this point of time as I have been cleared by the court of all charges, yet the nomination got cancelled.”

On January 1o, Azhar filed his nomination for the post of president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association. Prior to filing nominations, he had already given the confirmation about the same and had said,”I’ll definitely file my nomination of this post. I would like to bring some change and work hard to introduce more talents to Indian cricket.”

The 53-year-old Azharuddin played 99 Tests and 334 ODIs for India. The right-hander was banned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for match-fixing offenses, in 2000. However, a court lifted the ban in 2012. After his cricket career, he joined politics and became a Member of Parliament, winning on a Congress ticket in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, in 2009.
