A day after becoming the only batsman to score 3 T20I tons, New Zealand opener Colin Munro clinched the top spot in the ICC T20I batsmen ranking list released on January 4. Munro has successfully dethroned Australian opener Aaron Finch and currently leads the table with 793 ratings. The credit goes to his performance in the recently concluded 3-match T20I series against West Indies. Munro scored a massive 223 runs in 3 games and bagged the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award.
After Munro and Finch, Indian skipper Virat Kohli holds the third position with 776 rating points. Another Indian in the top 5 T20I batsmen list is KL Rahul who has 726 rating points.

On the bowler’s list, Kiwi spinner Ish Sodhi replaced Pakistani spinner Imad Wasim to take the top rank. Sodhi picked a total of 3 wickets in the series against the Caribbean and conceded 55 runs in 8 overs he bowled in the first and third match.
Among the top 5 T20I bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah is the only speedster while all others are spinners. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is at number three with 717 rating points while Indian Bumrah holds the fourth position.

There are no changes in the all-rounder’s list. Bangladesh veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan leads the table with 353 points followed by Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Nabi at second and third position respectively.

After defeating West Indies by 2-0 in the T20I series, New Zealand has also dethroned Pakistan from the top spot and have become the No 1 T20I team in the world. India is at No 3 with 121 rating points, ahead of England and West Indies.

After starting the year on the top, the Kiwis are all set to host Pakistan for a bilateral series comprised of five ODIs and three T20Is. The first ODI will commence on January 6 in Wellington.
