With cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan set to become the next Prime Minister of Pakistan, cricketers from across the globe congratulated the Pakistani World Cup-winning captain for his electoral triumph. Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), however, is yet to release the final result.
According to the preliminary results, Imran’s Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has obtained a clear edge over other parties, including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Following the trends, PTI workers and supporters have started celebrations before the final results. The PTI chief is also set to address the nation shortly, according to the party’s official Twitter account.

22 years later, after humiliations, hurdles and sacrifices, my sons’ father is Pakistan’s next PM. It’s an incredible lesson in tenacity, belief & refusal to accept defeat. The challenge now is to remember why he entered politics in the 1st place. Congratulations @ImranKhanPTI
