Team India completes a full decade since it won the inaugural World T20, beating arch-rivals Pakistan in a cliffhanger that went to the last over. It is archived as one of the most celebrated victories in India’s cricketing history and back then MS Dhoni, a first-time captain was leading a second string Indian side. The victory was also special because heavyweights like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid were missing. Experts and punters never gave the slightest of a chance to team India, and that is why the victory back then was even sweeter. Yuvraj Singh starred in that tournament, he hit Stuart Broad for a memorable six sixes of six balls. It was a strange tournament for India as against Pakistan in the league stage they also had a bowl out, a concept which cricketers were not used to. India emerged trumps in that. Throughout the tournament, India dropped just a single game against New Zealand on their way to the finals.

In the finals, India batted first but could not score big, they set a target of 158 and Pakistan who looked on course, thanks to Misbah-ul-Haq lost the plot in the final over of the match, when Misbah had a loss of concentration and tried playing the dilscoop only to find Sreesanth waiting for the catch. Sreesanth took the catch and the nation breathe a sigh of relief. India was world t20 champions.

MS Dhoni was applauded on returning home, that was the beginning of MS Dhoni, the skipper.

On the 24th September, team India completes a full decade from that win. Unfortunately, they will not get time to relive that memory as they have a big game against Australia at Indore on this same day.
