After conquering the 5-match ODI series by 4-1, Virat Kohli-led Team India took on Australia in the first T20I in Ranchi on October 7. Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field first. Unlike the ODI series, the Aussie opening pair including David Warner and Aaron Finch couldn’t last long in today’s game. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who brought the first over of the match, removed stand-in skipper David Warner in the first over itself and pushed the guests to back foot.
Bhuvi got the first breakthrough for his team in the fifth ball of the very first over. Bhuvi delivered an outswinger Warner had enough room to drive the ball towards the cover region. However, the ball stayed bit low and Warner, who was attempting to drive the ball, was played. After taking the inside edge of Warner’s bat, the ball hit the stumps.

Warner inning came to an end and he ended up scoring 8 runs off 5 balls. Before losing his wicket on the second last ball of the very first over, he had hit Bhuvi for two consecutive boundaries in the 3rd and 4th delivery.
Ahead of the first match, the Aussies had a huge blow after their regular skipper Steven Smith had to leave his team after he suffered an injury during a practice session where he was diving towards the ball. Smith will be unavailable for the remainder of the series. He will be replaced by Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. With Smith gone, Australian opener David Warner will be leading the Australian side.
