David Warner salutes India despite Guwahati stone-hurling incident, know why!

David Warner captained the Australian side after Steven Smith incurred a shoulder injury while practising and got ruled out of the series

David Warner is one of the most loved Australian cricketers in India. The captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has been cheered by fans even if he hits a six against India. Warner led Australia after Steven Smith suffered a shoulder injury and had to go back home. Warner did a fine job as Australia were able to make a comeback in the T20I series and level it by 1-1. Everyone was disappointed after Hyderabad decider was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to wet outfield. The opener would have got an opportunity to perform at his homeground of Indian Premier League (IPL).

Despite the stone-hurling incident in Guwahati after a comprehensive win, Warner had nothing but kind words for India on his flight back to Australia. The 30-year-old posted a heartwarming message on Instagram, “Thanks India for hosting us once again. We absolutely love coming to your country and playing cricket. Sorry about last night Hyderabad but I hope to see you all again next year.”

Warner’s gesture on Instagram was lauded by his Indian followers as they reciprocated with messages thanking and congratulating him.

Warner did not have much success on the tour in the initial phase of the ODI series. He did not get much support from youngster Hilton Cartwright. Though Warner’s body language changed altogether after Aaron Finch made a comeback into the side. The opener scored 219 runs from three innings including a match-winning century in Bengaluru ODI and a half-century in Nagpur ODI.

Though he could not make a mark in the T20I series with the bat. He got out for single digits in both the T20Is, scoring only 10 runs from 2 innings.

Warner will be looking to get back into the groove with Ashes 2017-18 coming up. The southpaw’s form is crucial in a tournament like Ashes to give Australia a healthy start upfront.
