Out of team Indian cricketer, Gautam Gambhir has finally revealed the name of the bowler he finds hardest to face and surprisingly it happens to be his Kolkata Knight Riders mate Morne Morkel. Over a period of 10 years, Gambhir has faced some of the most difficult bowlers in the circuit like Shane Warne, Muttiah Muralitharan and Brett Lee and hence it is even more surprising to see him name someone with whom he has played alongside. The Delhi southpaw revealed this in a show called ‘Breakfast with Champions’. Gambhir has in the past been a part of the winning squad in 2007 World T20 and an integral part of the Indian set up in the 2011 cricket World Cup.
The host of the show Gaurav Kapoor asked him: “The fiercest bowler you ever faced? or a few?”
Without any hesitation, Gambhir replied:“Morne Morkel in South Africa”
When Kapoor asked whether the awkward bound made him tough to handle, Gambhir said:“That’s why I got him. Honestly, that’s why we got him in KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders). I thought he was the toughest bowler I faced. Even when he was playing for Delhi, every time I would face him I would come back and say I wish we had Morne Morkel.”
“And the moment he was released, I said Morne Morkel,” he further added.

“Very and the reason was that I grew up in an environment where on Saturdays and Sundays I used to get an opportunity of playing a game with friends. If you are unbeaten on Sunday, you will get a turn next week on Saturday and if you get out Sunday then you have to wait for your opportunity the next Sunday,” said Gambhir when asked whether he was fiercely competitive.

“So the thing was I wanted to score runs, I wanted to be unbeaten, I wanted another opportunity the next week. So that made me competitive as well. I knew that if I wasn’t competitive then the next week I might be a fielder. And you would never want to do that because you wait an entire week just to end up fielding. So that is not great thing,” he concluded.
