India vs Australia 1st T20I in Ranchi Highlights: India win by 9 wickets to take 1-0 lead

India win the match comfortably in the end with 3 balls to spare and nine wickets in hand

Needing 48 to win off 6 overs, India did not get off to a great start losing Rohit Sharma early for 11 runs off 7 balls. That is when Virat Kohli walked in to join a fairly fresh Shikhar Dhawan. Soon the two-star batsman got into their elements and started taking full toll of loose balls. India were 27 for 1 in 3 overs. The match went into the last over with India needing 6 off 6 balls. Things looked a bit tricky. India wins with 3 balls to spare, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan remained unbeaten on 22 and 15 respectively to take a 1-0 lead in the series. India won by 9 wickets. This is India’s seventh consecutive victory against Australia in T20I’s.

Earlier, the revised target for India is 48 in 6 overs. This is the only reason why Virat Kohli opted to bat second, keeping an eye on the rain. In the first India vs Australia T20I in Ranchi, the Australians are at 118 runs after losing 8 wickets after the end of 18.4 overs, when rain stopped play. However, the game at the JCA Stadium in Ranchi has been halted as of now after heavy rain played the spoilsport. The covers are on the ground and the match officials are yet to give any further information. Adam Zampa (4) and Andrew Tye (0) were at the crease before the game was stopped. The Indian bowlers dominated throughout the game. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav claimed 2 wickets each while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal and Hardik Pandya picked the rest (one wicket each). No batsman other than Aaron Finch scored even more than 17 runs. Finch continued his good form in the T20I series opener as well. He ended up scoring 42 runs off 30 balls including 1 six and 4 fours. He was clean bowled by Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav.

If the current score is what Inia have to chase after DLS is included in 5 overs is 41. That means 75 in 10 overs and 104 by 15 overs.

India locks horns with Australia, now, in the 1st T20I at Ranchi. India won the toss and opted to bowl first. Virat Kohli made it clear at the toss that he wanted to field first because there were high chances of weather playing spoilsport. Axar is out, Kuldeep is back in. Dhawan replaces Rahane. After missing the ODI series, star opener Shikhar Dhawan is back into the team and will in all probability be opening with Rohit Sharma. Ashish Nehra, who at the age of 38 is making it back in the blues, is not included in the squad. Earlier, Steve Smith picked up a shoulder injury and will miss out on the match. In his absence, David Warner is leading the Australian side. He has experience of leading Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Indian Premier League (IPL), that is a big plus.

The pitch is expected to help the seamers at the outset but as the game progresses it should become a placid wicket to bat on. One thing is for certain, the ball will come onto the bat well and allow strokeplay.

Weather: It has been raining mildly in Ranchi and there are chances of a couple of passing spells of a shower, but a full game is on the cards.
