Kuldeep Yadav became the first Chinaman bowler to take a hattrick in ODIs. Kuldeep achieved the feat against Australia in the third ODI bowling a match-winning spell. Though it is not the first time Kuldeep has taken a hattrick, he did it almost three and a half years back against Scotland in Under-19 World Cup 2014. Yes, you read that right! Kuldeep became the first Indian bowler to register a hattrick in Under-19 World Cup on February 17, 2014.
Though the hattrick was against a rather minnow side of Scotland compared to his hattrick against Australia, it still counts. Kuldeep is a sensational Chinaman bowler now as he was back then. He caused a major batting collapse in the league match of Under-19 World Cup 2014.
Kuldeep took the wicket of left-handed Nick Farrar as he tried to slog the ball for a maximum, he was caught inside the circle on the onside. The next wicket seemed quite bizarre as Kyle Stirling did not even try to hit the ball bowled from round the wicket. Stirling was plump in front as he lost his wicket in a bizarre fashion.
Kuldeep was on a hattrick in the next over, Alex Baum was on strike. He bowled a snorter of a delivery which went through Baum’s defense. Kuldeep took the hattrick and created history in 2014.

His hattrick helped India bundle out Scotland’s innings in 30th over for just 88 runs. India won the match by 5 wickets despite being reduced to 5 for 22 while chasing a target of mere 89.

After more than three and a half years Kuldeep repeated his Dubai heroics at Eden Gardens by taking the wickets of Mathew Wade, Ashton Agar, and Pat Cummins by a few unplayable deliveries. Kuldeep is a temperamental bowler who made a comeback in the game after getting hit for boundaries and helping India to a 50-run win in second ODI.
