Virat Kohli recorded his first-ever duck in T20Is after playing 47 innings in the format. Kohli has the best batting average in the shortest format of the game but Jason Behrendorff got the better of him and achieved a unique record. Behrendorff did which no bowler in the T20I could not; get Kohli out on a duck. Kohli was dumbstruck by the left-arm pacer’s inswinger which took an inside edge off his bat, hit his pads and went up in the air. The Australian was quick to anticipate that and caught hold of the ball on his follow through taking the prized wicket of Indian skipper.
Kohli could not believe his luck as he stayed there for a while. At one point it seemed like Kohli is going to review the decision but he did not. Despite getting out for a duck he ended up entering the record books. He played the most number of innings before getting out for a duck. He leads the list by a big margin-
Virat Kohli (47 innings)
Shoaib Malik (40 innings)
Yuvraj Singh (39 innings)
Samiullah Shenwari (38 innings)
Kohli has scored 1.852 runs in T20I from 52 matches. His average of 54.47 is bound to go down to 52.91 after the duck he incurred in the first over of the innings.

Behrendroff went on to take four wickets for 21 in four overs bowling a dream spell in T20Is. His fiery spell helped the Australians put the pressure lid on throughout the innings as India could only score 118 all out in 20 overs.
Kohli took more than 7 years to record his first duck, he made his T20I debut in 2007. The crowd was disappointed to see Kohli get out in that fashion. It seemed like a soft dismissal which gave Australian bowlers the confidence to attack the batsmen on a double paced wicket of Guwahati.
