Virender Sehwag has given a big statement on the place of spinners in the current Indian limited overs squad. After Kuldeep Yadav took the historic hat-trick against Australia in the Kolkata ODI and Yuzvendra Chahal’s phenomenal performance in the past games, the former India opener reckons that these two wrist spinners have made the Indian fans forget Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
While speaking in one of the Leading Indian TV news channels, India TV, Sehwag said that the way Chahal and Kuldeep have performed in the past games and it will not make team India miss their two specialist spinners. He said,”It is a very good thing that we do not feel the pinch of not having two experienced spinners on our side because our newcomers are performing very well,”
Sehwag praised Kuldeep Yadav’s hat-trick in the previous game where he removed Mathew Wade, Ashton Agar and Pat Cummins despite starting poorly.
Sehwag said,”He must bowl according to his field placings because, in the second ODI, he gave away too many runs during his spell.”
Sehwag also mentioned how well Yuzvendra Chahal has been bowling for India. He said,”Chahal has the advantage of bowling on wickets like Bengaluru during the IPL games. So whenever there is a crisis, Kohli hands over the ball to Chahal.”
Sehwag also spoke about the failure of the middle batting order of the Indian Cricket Team in the last two games. He said,”Skipper Kohli now needs to change the batting line-up as the middle-order did not perform well in the first two ODIs. Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav should take advantage of the chances given to them, otherwise both have been flops till now,” he said.
Earlier, Sehwag also stated that the current Indian team has become as strong as Steve Waugh’s or Ricky Ponting’s Australian teams. The present Australian team lacks strength. He is confident Team India will win the series 5-0, the former opener added.
