The 2nd session of the second day’s game fell into the Indian laps after the Aussie batting collapsed totally fro 451 runs and Ravindra Jadeja emerging out as the most successful Indian bowler who took another five-wicket haul of his career. But on the other hand, Aussie skipper Steve Smith remained unbeaten at 178 until the end as the Indian bowlers couldn’t find any solution to harm his consistency.
Post lunch, Steve Smith and Steve O’Keefe resumed the Aussie inning at 401/7. Smith had played a stunning knock of 153 runs and was eyeing for a double hundred but at the same time, he needed a partner on the crease who could withstand the Indian bowling as only tail-enders were left then. But after conceding 50 more runs in this session, the hosts bundled the guests for a total of 451 runs.

The first innings remained a bit unfortunate for Ishant Sharma. Despite bowling a very consistent and calculated spell of 20 overs with an economy of 3.5 runs per over, he couldn’t get any wicket. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja yet another time turned to be the mysterious wizard and took 5 wickets and dismissed David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Mattew Wade, Patt Cummins, and Nathan Lyon. He bowled a spell 49.3 overs in which he conceded just 125 with an economy rate of 2.51 runs per over.

Not only with the ball, by the end, Jadeja also showed some heroics with the ball. It was the wicket of Josh Hazlewood when Jadeja, even without looking at the wickets, threw the ball towards the stumps and it was given a run-out.
Ahead of the tea break, Team India began with their batting and along with KL Rahul Rahul, Murali Vijay (who replaced Abhinav Mukund in this game) opened the Indian inning. Meanwhile, skipper Virat Kohli was also spotted in the dressing room practising with his bat. Rahul looked much confident as he hit few boundaries in the beginning while Vijay played very calculated shots. None of them would want to lose a wicket at this point.Earlier today, he was declared fit by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after he was ruled out of the day 1’s game after getting his shoulder injured while fielding.
