India cleaned up the visitors for 300 and went into day 2 with an advantage. They had the advantage but they had to bat and bat. The first session saw the Indians getting runs at a tortoise-like pace scoring only 64 in the first session and losing the wicket of Murali Vijay. But then after lunch Rahul fell after getting a half century, but that was the only wicket they lost in the post lunch session. Things really started happening in the post tea session Cheteshwar Pujara was first dismissed and the Karun Nair followed. Both the wickets were catches taken at bat-pad by Handscomb. Lyon got spin and bite off the pitch to then dismiss Rahane for 46 who was looking to change gears. Ashwin followed soon for well made 30.
It is a big day for India tomorrow if they want to get a handsome lead. India still trail by 52 runs with four wickets left. Saha and Jadeja will have to take responsibility in the absence of the decorated skipper Virat Kohli.

The pitch is already showing signs of wear and tear which will excite Ashwin, Kuldeep and Jadeja but first they need to get a sizable lead.
With the pitch helping spinners India will not like to bat last on this wicket, hence Pujara’s wicket was even more important for India’s chances of putting up a solid lead.
