After India ended day 2 on a jittery state, trailing by 52 runs with four wickets in hand. Wriddhiman Saha and Ravindra Jadeja had the responsibility of wiping out the lead. They did that but soon folded out for 332, with a lead of 32 runs. Australian bowlers came back strong on day 3 after the first hour. But soon, Pat Cummins and Stephen O’Keefe got into the act and dismissed India.
But then what followed was sensational to say the least. Indian pacers Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled their hearts out to dismiss the Australian openers, just after lunch and soon Steven Smith found himself in the pavilion with visitors tottering. Peter Handscomb and Glenn Maxwell too could not contribute much as much was expected of them. They fell for 18 and 45 respectively. Then it was the turn of the Indian spinners to run riot and they did. World class spinning duo of Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin bagged 3 wickets a piece, nailing the visitors and wrapping them for a paltry 137. Earlier in the day, Jadeja had a verbal dual with Matthew Wade, which actually went overboard.
